In 2011 AURA a.s. in cooperation with LOM Praha s.p and the Thermodynamics Institute at the Czech Academy, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade TIP programme, began development of a device (with associated methodology) intended for Mi helicopter power units. It is a programme with an output application which concentrates on measuring engine and gearbox vibrations together with acoustic emissions. The aim is to produce a simple replacement for the 1960s-era measuring unit. Our modern MLM unit provides the crew with reliable information and is suitable primarily for predictive maintenance. Part of the project consists of methods for assessing various measurements and their application during the maintenance and ground preparation of helicopters. The project has already reached the flight validation stage for the prototype and these new devices should be in active use by 2013.
